On 4 June 2025, the Australian Government announced a revised start date for the new Aged Care Act, including the Support at Home program. Originally planned for 1 July 2025, the new implementation date is now 1 November 2025.
This extension provides additional time for aged care providers to get ready and to assist clients throughout the transition. It also allows the Government to finalise essential systems and processes and gives Parliament more time to review the legislation needed to support the rollout.
In the meantime, existing services - including CHSP, HCP, and STRC - will continue without interruption. Home Care Package (HCP) clients will soon receive further details, including updates to the new HCP fee structure.
We will keep this page updated with the most recent information and helpful resources about the Support at Home reforms. You don’t need to take any action - if you’re already receiving a Home Care Package, you will move to the new program automatically on 1 November 2025.
CatholicCare Sydney is fully prepared for these upcoming changes. Our care teams are available to guide and assist you.
