This week, CatholicCare’s Disability Services delivered a powerful disability immersion experience with our Open Day, bringing together residents, Disability Services staff, workplaces, local MP Sophie Cotsis, the Mayor of Canterbury-Bankstown, Bilal El-Hayek, and, most importantly, people with disability and their families.
The event was designed to deliver joy and belonging, giving participants, their families, and friends a fun, interactive experience while showcasing the incredible programs and activities that make CatholicCare so special.
The day also raised awareness of our services within the local community, highlighting the support we provide. By inviting local Support Coordinators and NDIS professionals, we aimed to grow and connect, attracting potential new participants and strengthening ties across the sector.
Adding to the excitement, Channel 7’s Brightside joined the festivities, speaking with Kelly Turner about the impact of our programs. They also captured the energy at our mini Club DCI disco, where laughter, music, and dancing filled the room! Catholic Weekly will also be publishing an article covering the day, for distribution to 24,000 readers!

There were some special moments of recognition, with speeches from local MPSophie Cotsis and Mayor Bilal El-Hayek as well as a message of support shared fromNSW Premier Chris Minns, applauding CatholicCare’s ongoing commitment to supporting people with disability and helping to build an inclusive community across Sydney.
