Sophie Cotsis MP greeted by our energetic social group during her visit!

CatholicCare Sydney was one of the fortunate recipients in the Canterbury electorate to receive a share of the NSW Government’s Community Building Partnerships program, receiving funds to go towards the cost of a brand-new accessible minibus for the Disability Services team located in Lakemba.

On Friday 27 January, Ms Sophie Cotsis, MP, Member for Canterbury, handed over a cheque for $15,000 to representatives of CatholicCare Sydney.

“The opportunity to experience connection and inclusion in our community is vital for all people. The funding of this fully-accessible minibus creates access to these opportunities for more people with disability, helping them to build confidence, everyday life skills, and a sense of belonging,” said Joshua Grant, Director CatholicCare Sydney Disability Services.

“We’d like to thank Minister Cotsis for securing these much-needed funds towards our participant transport.”

CatholicCare Sydney’s Disability Services provides school leaver employment support, life skills and workplace training, supported employment, support coordination and social connection opportunities for those aged 15 – 65 years with a disability.
