Roy meets Premier Chris Minns

World Day of Social Justice 2024

The NSW Government’s first Community Cabinet meeting of 2024 took place in East Hills on Friday, 15 March. The meeting allows members of the community to meet with the NSW Premier Chris Minns and his Cabinet Members and talk about local issues. CatholicCare Sydney Disability Services Director Joshua Grant and Disability Services participant Roy went along to the meeting, eager to discuss the importance of accessible community events for people with disability.

Not only did Roy get the opportunity to meet his favourite politician – Premier Chris Minns - but he also invited him to visit the Disability Services team in Belmore to see how hard everyone works, and the Premier agreed to schedule a visit. The Premier was incredibly impressed with the work carried out by CatholicCare Sydney and thanked the team for everything they do.

Discussions were also held with Kate Washington, Minister for Families & Community Services and Disability Inclusion, and Kylie Wilkinson, the Member for East Hills, about the NSW Government's Disability Inclusion Plan, particularly the key focus area of more liveable communities, supported by disability-inclusive events.

Who knows, we may see Chris Minns and some of his Cabinet Members on the dance floor at the next Club DCI event!
