CatholicCare Sydney Board Announcement 2024

The leadership team of CatholicCare Sydney is pleased to announce the Archbishop of Sydney, Most Rev. Anthony Fisher OP, has appointed Mr John Leotta as the new Chair of the CatholicCare Sydney Board, taking on the role after a remarkable twenty-year term served by Richard Haddock AO.

John Leotta is a Partner and National Audit Leader at Deloitte, with extensive experience leading the audits of major corporations operating in a diverse range of industries in Australia and internationally, along with leadership roles in the real estate, construction, and infrastructure divisions. John joined the CatholicCare Sydney Board in 2015 and led the Audit & Risk Committee, guiding the organisation through compliance with laws and regulations as well as providing oversight of the financial reporting process.

“John is an incredibly resolute and professional individual, with an inspirational appreciation for the good we can achieve in assisting the disadvantaged and distressed in our community. His expertise in policy and business performance will help lead CatholicCare Sydney through the challenges faced by many not-for-profits and charities in the current climate,” said CatholicCare Sydney CEO Alastair McGibbon.

“I would also like to thank Richard Haddock for his outstanding service to our organisation, his twenty years of thoughtful leadership stands us in particularly good stead for the future. Richard steered us through many changes and celebrations including the transformation from Centacare to CatholicCare, a host of new government contracts including the Australia-wide Carer Gateway and Gamble Aware, the challenges of delivering care and compassion in the middle of a global pandemic, and the milestone of our 80th anniversary in 2021.”
