How do I get started?
The process of applying for a Home Care Package can be quite confusing. Call our expert team on 13 18 19 who can talk you through the process. CatholicCare's Home Care Specialists are experts at helping you navigate the My Aged Care system. It doesn't matter where you are in the process, CatholicCare is here to assist you every step of the way.
How many hours of care do you provide?
Rather than specifying hours of care per package we individualise care depending on your needs ensuring the funding is allocated to whichever services work best for your goals and supports your family and/or carer.
What will be my out of pocket expenses?
The Australian Government contributes to the cost of aged care services if you are eligible. However, all recipients in receipt of services are expected to contribute to their care. Costs vary for different types of care and your circumstances; our team will discuss this with you.
Can I access services in my own language?
If you need to speak to us in your own language we will organise an interpreter on the phone, free of charge, who will interpret the conversation for you. We can also provide phone interpreters when we visit you to discuss your individual needs and arrange services. Simply ask for the language you need when your visit is arranged.
Do CatholicCare workers have the relevant training?
CatholicCare believes in the importance of education and development for our Aged Care workforce. We provide regular training opportunities for all staff.
Do you charge an exit fee?
Supporting clients to exit our care does incur an administration cost, however this will vary depending on your circumstances.
Can I manage my own home care?
In some instances people prefer to manage their care themselves. CatholicCare can enable you to self manage your Home Care Package and meet the standards of governance required by My Aged Care. This arrangement requires CatholicCare to undertake some case management responsibilities such as reviewing your Home Care Agreement, Budget and Care Plan. When you self manage your Home Care Package you organise your own direct care services.
How can I become a volunteer?
Many elderly people are currently on lengthy waiting lists to receive a Government funded Home Care Package. During this waiting period they can become isolated in their homes and potentially disconnected from the community, often resulting in physical and mental deterioration.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with CatholicCare and giving the gift of your time, please view our current volunteer opportunities here at CatholicCare or call 13 18 19 if you have any questions.
