Children with a Disability the Winner from Team CatholicCare Sydney
CatholicCare Sydney Team fielded a team of 20 in the 2016 Blackmores Sydney Running Festival this month. While participants achieved personal best times or challenged themselves personally by taking on a longer distance event, children with disability under the age of 6 were the real winners.
More than $4,000 was raised by the Team who set up their personalised fundraising pages on GoFundraise and asked family, friends and colleagues to sponsor them.
The funds will be used to purchase essential equipment for CatholicCare’s Early Childhood Intervention Programs based at Cabramatta West.
Daniel Culhane, CatholicCare’s General Manager Disability, Mental Health and Carers said,
“The new equipment will greatly enhance our Loan Equipment Pool for children under 6 years. At present, if we don’t have the equipment on hand, there is often long delays in therapies while the right equipment is ordered.”
“Having the equipment available will allow CatholicCare’s Occupational Therapists to prescribe the right equipment and get started on the early intervention therapies without delay.”
Early Childhood Intervention provides regular and ongoing home and centre-based intervention for children from birth to school age with a disability or developmental delay.
