CatholicCare’s Centacare, located in Belmore, is well known in the community for its mission statement - Work. Learn. Connect. Centacare provides meaningful employment for adults with a variety of intellectual disabilities. The teamwork together in an inclusive and empowering environment on jobs ranging from basic packing and assembly to warehousing and logistics.
More than two years ago, as part of the Centacare work program, Centacare’s Executive Manager, Brad Burridge, recognised an opportunity to build a team of cleaners to include in their service offering.
Dynamic and friendly, today, the “Cleaning Crew” are a tight-knit team, delivering consistent and dependable services for their clients.
“They are one of the most successful teams at Centacare,” Brad said. “Everyone gets along and enjoys their work and their services are always efficient and reliable.”
To date, they have managed to land some impressive contracts including the Catholic Institute of Sydney and three CatholicCare properties based at Lewisham, Liverpool and Bankstown. With the level of reputation and experience they have built, the cleaning crew are motivated and ready to take on even more work.
They offer regular office cleaning including standard office cleaning tasks, as well as expert floor polishing and garden maintenance.
The most unique part about the cleaning service are the hours of operation. The dynamic team arrive during the day to do the job, allowing clients to get to know the team, have a chat and provide feedback on the spot, without having to wait until the next visit.
Paula, who’s one of the team members, says she loves her job. She first came to Centacare after being out of work for an extended period of time, because of her disability.
All that changed the day she came across an advertising for work opportunities at Centacare. One thing led to another and today Paula is a committed and valued Centacare employee.
“I truly love cleaning and now the Centacare cleaning team feel like family to me!”
